Obtaining a work permit

Employees who are employed in the UAE are issued work permits by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE). The employer can submit the following to request a fresh work permit:

  • A color image of the employee on a blank backdrop
  • A copy of the worker’s passport with six months left on it
  • A letter of endorsement from the appropriate authority
  • Academic credentials that have been approved by the employee’s home country’s ministry of foreign affairs

The UAE Ministry has released a new guideline concerning work permits. The new rule allows husbands to sponsor their husbands for a work visa in the UAE.

If an employee leaves without telling the employer, MOHRE gives the company the authority to file a report.

In support of such, the employer must provide documentation like:

  • A passport photo of both the employer and the employee
  • Residence and visa information for the employee

With the exception of Dubai, the service is AED 418 per emirate. Through Amer Centers and the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, employers in Dubai may use this service (GDRFA).

Any fine incurred by the domestic worker may also be paid by the employer through MOHRE. In order to pay a fine, employers must have:

  • A copy of the passport of the employer
  • A genuine, current ID from a GCC employer, resident, or investor
  • A true, authentic ID from the employer

MOHRE also oversees other work-related procedures. As an instance, the Ministry:

  • Changes or modifies the work permit
  • Revokes a used or unused work permit
  • Provides a facility for inspecting work locations.

  • Meets quota requirements for businesses with 50 and more workers
  • Conducts routine inspection

RENEWAL AND ISSUANCE OF ABSHER CARD

A discount card called the Absher Card is provided to UAE residents employed in the country’s private sector.

To obtain an Absher card, you must:

  • The Emirati approach
  • Have a registered worker’s card
  • At least one month’s worth of work experience in one place of business
  • Being registered with the Abu Dhabi Pensions and Retirement Fund or the General Authority for Pensions and Social Security
  • Have documentation of at least three pay transfers made under the Wages Protection System (WPS)

MOHRE issues the card within 7 working days after receiving your application. When the card expires, MOHRE renews it in the system automatically without requiring another application.

SALARY ISSUE SETTLEMENT

MOHRE requests the following information when filing a complaint about salary-related matters:

  • List of company employees
  • Complete establishment report
  • Reports from earlier inspections
  • Establishment placement plan
  • A copy of the grievance

Salary difficulties are often resolved by the Wages Protection System (WPS) MOHRE wage payment report within three working days.

LIQUIDATION UNDER BANK GUARANTEE

The service helps workers in receiving money on the beneficiary’s behalf.

To receive this service, staff members must possess:

    • Liquidation order from the court
    • Settlement agreement prepared by the legal team to terminate the employer’s guarantee and approval

You must do the actions outlined below in order to start the service:

    • Bring the court document expressing a bank guarantee in favor of the labour relations section to the meeting.
    • The bank guarantee will be used depending on the employer’s discretion in the absence of a judicial order.

In 3 working days, the results are shared.

FOLLOW-UP ON WORKPLACE INJURIES AND ACCIDENTS

Additionally, MOHRE makes sure that workers receive insurance from their separate companies in the event of any workplace dangers. In order to use this amenity, personnel must:

  • Labour contract
  • The medical report from Abu Dhabi’s Health Authority that calculates the percentage of disability.

TASHEEL

TAQYEEM

It facilitates the registration of laborers in the labour camp system and gives information on subcontracts, the status of commercial licenses, and their validity. TAWSEEL

PROGRAM MOHRE TAWTEEN

The National Program for Emiratization (Tawteen), which was launched by the Ministry, enables UAE citizens to work in the private sector. Anyone between the ages of 18 and 60 who possesses a citizen ID is eligible to use this site to request help.
