DUBAI VEHICLE TESTING PROCESS

VEHICLE TEST TYPES

Every year, vehicles in Dubai are required to pass a roadworthiness test.

The following is a list of the different vehicle inspection tests that are required for cars to certify their roadworthiness in accordance with RTA safety requirements.

Defect test: Following a roadside inspection or remote identification of problems, the vehicle is sent to the Vehicle Testing Partners facility for testing.

Export test: Before a car may be exported outside of the UAE, it must pass the export test.

New vehicle registration test: This test is required before registering a new vehicle acquired from a licensed dealer. The exam is also required for car re-registration and when transferring vehicle ownership.

Vehicle testing on a regular basis: all cars in Dubai that are three years old must get a vehicle test every year. The exam is also necessary to renew your Dubai car registration.

Re-testing: If your vehicle fails any of the above tests, it will need to be re-tested following specific repairs and modifications.

DUBAI VEHICLE TESTING AND INSPECTION FEES

The following are the testing and inspection fees:

  • Periodic vehicle test fees: 150 AED for light vehicles and heavy vehicles
  • New vehicle registration test fees: 120 AED for light vehicles and 150 AED for heavy vehicles
  • Re-test fees: 35 AED for light vehicles and AED 50 for heavy vehicles
  • Export test: 25 AED for light vehicles and 25 AED for heavy vehicles
